Education Abroad Opportunities

Education abroad has long-term and lasting benefits for students of all areas of study and backgrounds. From greater employability and higher salaries to increased confidence and adaptability, nearly any education abroad experience will challenge you to grow and teach you skills that are transferable to any industry.

At Ohio State, you can earn academic credit, fulfilling requirements in your major, minor, elective, or Global Option coursework; experience hands-on learning and gain invaluable intellectual insight. The College of Education and Human Ecology offers a variety of study abroad programs to enhance your global perspective and complement your coursework. EHE students are eligible to enroll in, and seek funding support for, any of the following:

Education Abroad Financial Support

There are FIVE different financial supports for study abroad; three offered by the College of Education and Human Ecology.

  1. Course Subsidies
    All EHE faculty-led study abroad courses receive significant subsidies from the college. This means that course fees associated with the study abroad experience are heavily discounted. These discounts are built directly into the advertised course cost. In 2017-18, faculty-led study abroad course subsidies totaled approximately $100,000.
  2. EHE Ambassador Award
    The College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE) is proud to provide this funding opportunity to students in the college pursuing EHE-sponsored in-person and virtual education abroad opportunities. Awards for the 2021-2022 cycle range from $500 - 1,000.

  3. Additional scholarships are available from EHE.
  4. EHE students proposing research abroad may be eligible for a scholarship from the EHE Office of Research, Innovation and Collaboration.
  5. The Ohio State Office of International Affairs provides information on numerous additional funding sources.

Regional campus EHE students may be eligible for funds from his or her campus.

Global Option certificate

The Global Option is a series of undergraduate courses and experiences which can be incorporated into most EHE programs of study at any of our five campuses. By selecting courses and experiences that have an international focus within the existing program offerings students can add a recognition on their transcript that recognizes their global experiences.
