Crane Research Forum: Ruth Lowery
The March Crane Research Forum brings Ruth Lowery, interim chair of Teaching and Learning and professor of children's literature at The Ohio State University, to share her research on "Our stories: Voices of Jamaican immigrant parents."
Lowery's research focuses on immigrant and multicultural literature; the adaptation of immigrant and at-risk students in schools; West Indian immigrants and their adjustment in American, Canadian and British schools; and preparing teachers to teach diverse student populations. She has published numerous articles, book chapters and authored/co-edited several books including Immigrant Experiences (2019) and Land of Opportunity (2019). She is active in the National Council of Teachers of English, Children’s Literature Assembly, and the United States Board on Books for Young People. Her motto: “just read,” encapsulates her love of reading and belief in sharing great stories with readers of all ages.
