Enhancing Quality in Early Childhood Education
The Crane Center hosts Dr. Steven Howard and Dr. Cathrine Neilsen-Hewett from the School of Education, University of Wollongong, Australia on Thursday, (5/16) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 175 East 7th Avenue. Join our speakers as they present, "Enhancing Quality in Early Childhood Education and Care: Identifying and Evaluating Effective Strategies and Tools." The researchers created The Preschool Situational Self-Regulation Toolkit (PRSIST) Program, a collection of free videos that support the development of children's early self-regulation including goal setting, motivation, and problem solving.
Howard also developed the Early Years Toolbox (EYT) to assess young children's executive function, self-regulation and language development. He is co-author of a children's book which blends cognitive brain training with reading.
Neilson-Hewitt is Director of Academic Studies for The Early Years. She studies children's social relationships with a focus on contextual influences on children's socio-emotional adjustment in childcare and school.
