Matt Doxsey Staff Sergeant Matt Doxsey (’13 BS), second from left, wrote recently about the O-H-I-O photo that he, fellow Buckeye, Major Katie Herbert, and two other members of his squadron took while deployed in Iraq in 2009. They have been deployed to the Middle East since the photo was taken, and his unit is deploying yet again. “No matter where our mission takes us, we will always bring O-H-I-O along,” he said.

What have you been doing in your career since graduating from EHE?

Matt Doxsey Matt Doxsey

Since graduating from The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in human nutrition and a minor in exercise science, I have settled in as a project manager at Procter & Gamble's Winton Hill Business Center location in Cincinnati.

I am a project manager at Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL), one of the largest commercial real estate companies in the works that serves P&G’s needs. I work on infrastructure/equipment installs, remodels and refreshes, among other site improvements.

How do you apply your human nutrition and exercise science knowledge?

The human nutrition major allowed me to meet all of the necessary prerequisites to apply to a doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) program. Though I wanted to go on to get my DPT, after two deployments that prolonged my college experience, I needed to get out into the workforce. My education at Ohio State has been a vital piece of my career progression.

I stay current with my degree program by being a health champion on the account. I help organize events and promote healthy activities for all my fellow employees.

What is your role in serving with the Ohio Air National Guard?

Matt_Doxsey_BS13Human Nutrition_with_plane Doxsey and a F-15E Strike Eagle.

My current role in the Ohio Air National Guard is an interface control technician. We take radar
data and a Common Operational Air Picture (a 360-degree view of everything in the air) and distribute among higher, lateral and lower agencies for coordination.

In June, I will head to Arizona for Weapons Director Training. There, I will learn how to control jet fighters, tankers and anything else that wants to fly in tactical airspace.
