Applying for an EHE scholarship

 

Do you need a scholarship? The only way to win one is to apply for it.

Beginning in September 2016, scholarship applications from The College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE) will open to students.

We've made the process easy. You only need to complete one application to be considered for all scholarships you may qualify for.

When you apply, your qualifications will be evaluated for individual scholarships, grants-in-aid and other monetary awards.

Simply find the best match to your expected student status at Ohio State for autumn semester 2017 to review what you will need to complete an application, and to apply for an EHE scholarship.

Before you begin

There are several important pieces of information you need to know prior to starting your application.

DEADLINES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
January 16, 2017 - Deadline for current graduate and undergraduate students and future graduate students at main and regional campuses.
February 13, 2017 - Deadline for future undergraduate students at main and regional campuses.
April 3, 2017 - Deadline for priority awarding for incoming undergraduate transfer students and
May 1, 2017 is the final deadline for any possible consideration.

  1. Only students who apply by the scholarship deadlines will be considered for an award.
  2. In order to ensure your best chance to be selected for and EHE scholarship, please carefully read and follow all instructions.
  3. Make sure you have all the necessary information available prior to starting your application.
  4. By completing an application, you give the scholarship selection committees the right to review relevant academic information from your Ohio State University student record.
  5. Completing an EHE scholarship applications does not mean you have applied for financial assistance or loans from Federal Student Aid (FASFA) or other OSU departments. The Office of Student Financial Aid has more information about federal programs, loans and other funding options.
  6. To be considered for a need-based scholarship, you are encouraged to submit a FASFA form by the priority deadlines above.
  7. It is important that your EHE scholarship application is accurate and reads as you want it. You will not be able to go back once you progress through your application.

The Applications

Use the application that best matches the student status you will have in autumn semester 2016. You will be guided through a checklist of all the information you will need to apply for an EHE scholarship before proceeding to the official application.

Future Undergraduate Student

Survey responses on EHE scholarship applications will be saved automatically. You are allowed to pause completion of your application. To finish your application you must use same computer and the same browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.). You may only complete one (1) application.

Please ensure your information is accurate before continuing on to the next page of the application. You will not be able to go back to previous pages.

If you are a varsity student-athlete at Ohio State and you list athletics ability, participation or achievements as part of this application, it may or may not impact your eligibility for this award based upon NCAA legislation.

In addition to personal information, before beginning the EHE scholarship application please make sure you have the following items available:

  • Ohio State username.# and ID# (both can be found on your receipt of admission application email);
  • OSU email address (this will be either your username.#@osu.edu or username.#@buckeyemail.edu);
  • High school information (name, city, state, county, country);
  • High school grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale and high school rank. If your high school does not operate on a 4.0 grade scale, convert your GPA to this scale before entering it into your application. If your high school does not keep track of rank, please estimate where you believe you would fall (e.g., top 5%, top 10%, etc.);
  • Composite ACT and/or SAT scores (if taken);
  • Number of anticipated Advanced Placement (AP) credit hours or college credits that you will transfer to Ohio State;
  • Briefly describe up to four of your extracurricular, work, or internship experiences from the past 2 years. Include:
    1. The name of organization which you belonged;
    2. How long you have been or were a member of this organization (e.g., May 2013-August 2014);
    3. What types of activities you perform or performed as a member of this organization;
    4. What you have learned from your experiences in this organization; and
    5. If you held a formal or informal leadership position? If so, what was your title (if you had one) and what were your responsibilities?
  • Details about your career ambitions, research projects/interests (if you have them) or future educational goals (if you have them). Entry must be 1,800 characters or less; and
  • A personal statement (e.g., work ethic, obstacles you have overcome, background information, financial restraints and need). Entry must be 1,800 characters or less.

Current Undergraduate Student

(If you are transferring to the Columbus Campus from an Ohio State regional campus use this application.)

Please ensure your information is accurate before continuing on to the next page of the application. You will not be able to go back to previous pages.

If you are a varsity student-athlete at Ohio State and you list athletics ability, participation or achievements as part of this application, it may or may not impact your eligibility for this award based upon NCAA legislation.

In addition to personal information, before beginning the EHE scholarship application please make sure you have the following items available:

  • Ohio State username.# and ID# (ID number is 8-9 digits and can be found on your Buck ID or on the top of your Buckeye-link homepage);
  • OSU email address (this will be either your username.#@osu.edu or username.#@buckeyemail.edu);
  • Information about your high school (city, state, county, country);
  • Anticipated 2017-18 student status (e.g., junior, senior, grad) and your current cumulative OSU GPA;
  • Information on professional conferences or education abroad trips, if any, you will attend during the 2017-18 academic year;
  • Briefly describe up to four of your extracurricular, work, or internship experiences from the past 2 years. Include:
    1. The name of organization which you belonged;
    2. How long you have been or were a member of this organization (e.g., May 2013-August 2014);
    3. What types of activities you perform or performed as a member of this organization;
    4. What you have learned from your experiences in this organization; and
    5. If you held a formal or informal leadership position? If so, what was your title (if you had one) and what were your responsibilities?
  • Details about your career ambitions, research projects/interests (if you have them), or future educational goals (if you have them). Entry must be 1,800 characters or less; and
  • A personal statement (e.g., work ethic, obstacles you have overcome, background information, financial restraints and need). Entry must be 1,800 characters or less.

Undergraduate Transfer Student

    5. If you held a formal or informal leadership position? If so, what was your title (if you had one) and what were your responsibilities

    1. The name of organization which you belonged;
    2. How long you have been or were a member of this organization (e.g., May 2013-August 2014);
    3. What types of activities you perform or performed as a member of this organization;
    4. What you have learned from your experiences in this organization; and
    5. If you held a formal or informal leadership position? If so, what was your title (if you had one) and what were your responsibilities?
  • Details about your career ambitions. Entry must be 1,800 characters or less;
  • Details about your research interests and/or projects. Entry must be 1,800 characters or less; and
  • A personal statement (e.g., goals, work ethic, obstacles you have overcome, background information, financial restraints and need). Entry must be 1,800 characters or less.

Current Graduate Student

  • Information about your career interests. Entry must be 1,800 characters or less; and
  • A personal statement (e.g., goals, work ethic, obstacles you have overcome, background information, financial restraints and need). Entry must be 1,800 characters or less.

Most EHE scholarships are awarded annually through our online application process. There are a few exceptions. Our professional development, travel grants and unique scholarships are great opportunities for students but do have different application processes.
