EHE Alumni Society
The EHE Alumni Society promotes and advances interests of the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University, including the Departments of Educational Studies, Human Sciences and Teaching and Learning. We provide fellowship and help nurture professional relationships among the alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the Society. We are an integral part of The Ohio State Alumni Association, Inc., the official alumni organization of The Ohio State University, and promote and support its mission.
I have been fortunate to have had many mentors in life. Some I chose; others chose me. Each of these individuals has taught, challenged, corrected, supported and praised me along the way.
At this point in my journey, I have the privilege of mentoring others. I take this responsibility seriously and strive to impart valuable core nuggets that I’ve gathered. Here are a few that have served me well as a professional:
Strive to become the best version of yourself. You were created with a unique set of strengths and attributes. Reflect on who you are and what you want in life. Engage in work that inspires you and strive for continuous improvement.
Develop a moral compass. Be honest and forthright. Integrity pays in the long run, and you will have greater peace within yourself if you have it.
Be adaptable. Tackle problems others won’t, try new approaches, be open to new ideas and constantly seek to learn more. We live in a fast-paced world. If you adapt, you will remain relevant.
Own your mistakes and commit to fixing them. Mistakes are learning opportunities. Get comfortable with admitting when you are wrong. You’re human.
