Biography

Anne Turpin brings nearly two decades of industry expertise into her role as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management at The Ohio State University. With a background that includes leadership roles at Marriott and Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Anne specializes in general management, hotel operations, training and development, and associate relations. Her distinguished career has earned her accolades such as General Manager of the Year by the Ohio Hotel and Lodging Association and Fairfield Inn by Marriott.

In her academic role, Anne is committed to integrating real-world experiences with classroom education, focusing on the dynamic and global aspects of the hospitality industry. She directs the Hospitality Management Advisory Board and has developed pivotal industry partnerships that enrich student learning through initiatives like “Hospitality Listens” and "The Big Dish," promoting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) and community involvement.

Significant Contributions

During the pandemic, Anne created and delivered a Massive Open Online Class (MOOC), "Infection Prevention 101 for Public Spaces," which garnered enrollment exceeding 1,000 participants. The course was critically acclaimed, with 76.7% of participants expressing a strong intent to recommend it to others, and 74.5% planning immediate implementation of the learned practices in their public workspaces.
