Cory Brown

Biography
Dr. Cory Brown is an assistant professor in the College of Education and Human Ecology’s Department of Teaching and Learning at The Ohio State University at Newark. His research crosses interdisciplinary boundaries of curriculum, sociology, and cultural studies to focus on the inequities that exist in education through multiple contexts (i.e., urban, suburban, and rural). Additionally, he focuses on teaching practices that demonstrate the use of social justice methods, such as culturally relevant pedagogy (CRP) to enhance the learning and engagement of students.

Research Summary
Dr. Brown's scholarship contributes to a body of research focused on the importance of culturally relevant and culturally responsive practices as well as educational policy to address issues of equity and diversity in education. Additionally, he explores how teachers and administrators can better serve all students in their respective classrooms and schools to ensure that each child is represented in the curriculum.
