Biography
Scott Sweetland is associate professor and chair of Educational Administration in the Department of Educational Studies at The Ohio State University. He teaches school finance and business administration courses. Sweetland's current program of research includes school funding, school choice and human capital theory. He also has served as chair of OSU's Senate Fiscal Committee, transition director of the School of Educaitonal Policy and Leadership and section head of Educational Administration and Higher Education.
Sweetland's teaching, research and service activities have culminated into myriad collaborations with distinguished scholars, state officials and school administrators. For example, he has delivered more than 40 presentations on school finance and authored or co-authored more than 30 books, chapters and journal articles about school finance. His school finance work has appeared in the Journal of Education Finance, The Journal of School Business Management, School Business Affairs, Education Policy Analysis Archives, Planning and Changing, Education Leadership Review, The American Association of School Administrators Professor, University Council for Educational Administration Review, Review of Educational Research and the Encyclopedia of Educational Leadership and Administration.
Sweetland began his professional career in the banking and insurance industries where he held positions in branch office management, corporate headquarters administration and marketing and sales. He holds a PhD in Education from SUNY Buffalo and MBA and BBA cum laude degrees from St. Bonaventure University
