Melissa Wiser

Melissa Wiser is Senior Lecturer of sport industry in the Department of Human Sciences. She has taught several sociocultural and historical courses including: Sport and Sexuality, Sport in Popular Culture, Sport in Contemporary America, Research in the Sport Industry and Women’s Sport History. Her research focuses on the organizational shifts in the sports of men’s lacrosse and women’s lacrosse in relation to domestic and international expectations of gender equity in sport. In addition to publishing in the International Journal of the History of Sport, Wiser has presented papers at the annual conferences of the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport, the National Women’s Studies Association and at the First Transnational Lacrosse Conference in 2014. She is also an affiliate faculty member in Sexuality Studies at Ohio State.
