Graduate Associate Application

As a graduate student in the College of Education and Human Ecology, we are glad you are interested in becoming a graduate associate (GA) or returning as a GA. The responsibility of a GA can vary depending on the type of position and appointing unit but may include teaching classes, advising students, grading papers, gathering and analyzing data, writing reports and administrative duties.

GA positions are limited and highly competitive. Open positions are filled based on the knowledge and skills of the candidates. The hiring committee for each department consists of supervising faculty and the department chair.

All students interested in a GA position (including those who have previously held or are currently holding a GA position) are required to complete the GA application in order to obtain a position for the next academic year. Renewal of contracts is not guaranteed for those who previously held positions. Academic performance, prior GA performance, availability of funds and need for services, student eligibility and progress towards degree completion are all taken into consideration.

Students hired as GAs will be required to attend any mandatory orientations, trainings and performance evaluations as deemed necessary by the College to support you in your role and enhance professional development.

The College of Education and Human Ecology's GA application for college/department funded positions for the 2024-2025 academic year opened on December 2, 2023, and closed on February 1, 2024. If you have any questions or concerns about GA positions, please contact the GA Manager, Amanda Crall, crall.25@osu.edu
