Participation

What if I fail a class?

Students who do not successfully pass one or more of their courses during their term of graduation are still eligible to participate in commencement. Students will be notified via email on the Friday before commencement and given the option to participate, but will not receive their diploma until a later date when ALL degree requirements are met.

If you do not meet your degree requirements during your intended semester of graduation, you MUST submit a revised graduation application via an appointment with your academic advisor.

Can I choose to delay graduation?

You may choose to delay your graduation for up to one term after your degree requirements have been met (i.e. applying for spring graduation when your requirements were met in the previous autumn semester). Students who choose to delay graduation will not receive their diploma until the completion of the chosen semester of graduation.

Can I choose to participate in graduation early?

Students may not participate in Commencement prior to the semester in which they intend to fulfill their degree requirements.

What if I have pending transfer credit?

You are responsible for sending any transcripts with transfer credits to Ohio State. Get the full details.

Not walking?

Submit the required Commencement Ceremony Excused Form at least two weeks before your graduation date. You will no longer be able to participate in commencement once you submit the form. Your diploma will be available for pick up one week after commencement or mailed immediately after graduation.
