Adding and Dropping Courses

Students are responsible for knowing the implications of changing their schedule. Please contact the appropriate office to obtain information before taking action.

The deadlines listed below apply to the full (14 week) autumn and spring semesters. For a full list of deadlines for sessions and summer term, view the Registrar's list of important dates.

NOTE: If this is your first term at Ohio State, you will need to contact your advisor to make changes to your schedule.

General Add/Drop Deadlines

First Friday of semester

• Last day to drop a course without instructor permission
• Last day to drop with 100% refund

Second Friday of semester

• Last day to add a course without a petition
• Last day to drop with 75% refund

Fourth Friday of semester

• Last day to drop without a 'W'
• Students may drop on their own in Buckeyelink
• Last day to drop with 50% refund

Tenth Friday of semester

• Last day to drop a course with a petition
• Students may request to drop a full-semester course via the EHE Same Day Drop Form
