Study Abroad
Travel the world, led by our faculty for optimal learning. For example:
- Hospitality management students enjoyed learning about the food service and lodging industries in Paris
- Physical education and sport industry students visited France, Italy, Monaco and Spain to study the European sports industry
- Future teachers traveled to Indonesia to spend time in classrooms for their First Education Experience Program

Field experiences or service learning
Learn concepts in the classroom, then practice them in schools or the community. For instance:
- Future teachers discover their strengths by observing and assisting in different K-12 school settings
- Human development and family science students learn how to promote inclusion for children with disabilities at local agencies
- Future physical education teachers spend time in elementary schools learning how to assess students’ skill levels and teach physical activity

Real-world preparation for your future
Earn while learning under expert supervisors as an intern or student teacher. A few examples are:
- Sports coaching and recreation students intern with local teams or organizations
- Fashion and retail studies students work at companies both near and far
- Future teachers intern with a mentor teacher in their preferred types of classrooms

Student organizations
Join any of dozens of programs or student organizations to gain experience and provide service to others. For example:
- First-generation students come together under a mentor to build a sense of belonging within the college
- Honors and Scholars students choose the Academic Advocates for Communities and Education Scholars (ACES) Program to advocate for communities through education, awareness and service
- Fashion and Retail Studies students join the Fashion Production Association to design for and present an annual fashion show benefiting a charity
