Our comprehensive approach to food, nutrition and diet will help you become an expert, teaching people how to make healthful food choices to maintain healthy minds and bodies. The program is your first step to becoming a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN).

Multiple pathways to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at Ohio State 

The Commission on Dietetic Registration requirements to become a registered dietitian nutritionist include a minimum of a master’s degree to take the national registration exam beginning on January 1, 2024. 

  1. Complete your BS degree with the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD)
  2. Complete the Master of Dietetics and Nutrition; or the Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Human Nutrition Dietetic Internship 
  3. Pass the National Registration Exam

Accelerated Combined Degree

You can earn your Bachelor of Science in Nutrition – Dietetics and Master of Dietetics and Nutrition (BSND-MDN) in 5 years! Qualified students majoring in human nutrition - dietetics can save time and money by completing an accelerated, combined undergraduate/graduate degree to meet the educational requirements to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN).
