The Primary Education (P-5) program is committed to working for social justice and excellence for all children. Our training prepares students to think critically and reflectively while teaching in inventive ways that meet the needs of all learners. Students engage in experiences in schools throughout the metropolitan Columbus area that span the pre-k to fifth grade license and promote inquiry-based, cooperative learning strategies. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be recommended for a teaching license through the Ohio Department of Education.

Graduated SP19

The Primary Education (P-5) provided me with an exceptional foundation to begin a career in the ever-changing field of education. Both personally and professionally, this program trained my way of thinking and helped me to develop a teaching philosophy rooted in inquiry and striving for equity and inclusion. In a profession where so much of your heart is on display, I am forever grateful for the professors and colleagues that challenged my previously held perceptions, provided diverse perspectives, listened to my self-perceived shortcomings, and ultimately offered encouragement for how to move forward in the best interest of my students.
