Speaker 1:
Hospitality management is the people's  industry everything between retail,  fashion hotels, restaurants, theme parks,  country clubs operations, sales is more  open lifestyle than as a profession.

I  know there you know there's so many  things within hospitality management.

I  don't think people realize that we can  do management program aims to our  students into Future Leaders.

I think  that there are many benefits for  students in this program especially  first year students because you get a  wide range of knowledge.

Right off the  bat, he program itself is very  experiential with experienced  professionals who are our professors  with the diversity of the students that  come from all over the country and all  over the world.

It is really a complete  very impactful learning environment so  our professors promote success in the  classroom by giving us opportunities  outside the classroom for extra  volunteer work as well as letting us  take on independent studies.

So these  independent studies can range from maybe  social media practice to our two big  events and people being on the planning  committees.

For those one in the fall is  hospitality listens it's an event that's  student-led student planned as well as  students volunteer to cook the food,  serve the food to families who are  children on the autism spectrum.

Our  other event is both of the dishes in the  spring semester and so the big dish is  one of the top three from  state.

We have over 600 industry  professionals attend and it's an  opportunity to showcase our students and  give out scholarships.

In other words to  those who apply for and deserve them  we've had various guest lecturers come  in and speak to us so it's nice to hear  different perspectives from people who  are actually in the workforce we've also  had opportunities to go visit and toured  places in the back of the house such as  the Ojai stadium or the Hilton downtown.

For the Greater Columbus Convention  Center we visited three different  industry partners that represent a  different segments and students had an  opportunity to network with general  management at each location as well as  experience their product and their  services.

Each one of our professors come  from a different background and a  different country and each one of us  would have a different teaching style  that I can take from and I can learn  from.

This house McAlary program is so  well connected to the Columbus  hospitality community so there are so  many board members on the devisor board  that are willing to share the experience  and opportunities that's very unique  about this program when we leave this  university we're still able to maintain  connection with our lectures and  professors.

Columbus is one of the best  hospitality capitals we have hotels that  are work when we have restaurants that  are worth winning and it's more than  that there's so many different  manufacturers here and supply chains in  Columbus that I could pursue as well we  have many different corporations and  corporate partners within a ten-mile  radius.

We have well over 50 industry  partners from well-known companies and  brands not only locally but within the  United States and even internationally  in a lot of different segments my  favorite part of the Ohio State program  is the amount of internships.

They get to  choose and work with employers who care  about them and they get to apply what  they've learned in the classroom out in  the real world  because we take on required internships.

I've worked for Cameron Mitchell I've  worked for an area and I've also worked  for the Ohio Restaurant Association and Experience Columbus so I've gotten my  feet wet in a lot of different  directions and I don't think if those  internships were required and there  wasn't so many industry professionals  willing to give those opportunities.

I  would have never decided what I want to  do after graduating a high percentage of  our students graduate with jobs they're  going to be able to get into the  industry use the skills use the  experience and have a career opportunity.

That is very unique and very special  that we provide in the hospitality  industry great people operate great  restaurants great hotels and it's a  people business and I tell my students.

If you love people this is the place to  be and that's why I enjoy this so much.
