Child and Youth Studies: Community Internship

Whether your career focus is in community-based education, teacher licensure or other unique career paths, the Child and Youth Studies yearlong Community Internship allows you to apprentice with an education professional in a community-based education program, learning hands-on about the diversity of teaching and learning opportunities outside traditional school classrooms.

How to register for the Community Internship 

As the culminating experience in the Child and Youth Studies program, register for the internship in the spring semester prior to your final year of study. 

  • An online form is emailed to program students. If you will be a 4th-year CYS student in AU21, apply to EDUTL 3189.09. 

  • Register for EDUTL 3189.09 and EDUTL 5195.09 

  • Schedule an in-person meeting with the program manager to determine placement. Sites are limited and not guaranteed. 

  • You will be notified of placements prior to end of Spring semester. 

  • Complete compliance requirements before summer break. 

  • Field placement documents 

  • ODJFS Medical Statement (ODJFS-licensed early childhood education programs only) 

  • Ohio State Activities and Programs with Minor Participants Policy Training 

  • Ohio State Standards of Behavior Form 

  • Ohio State Statement of Commitment to Dispositions 

  • Other organization-specific compliance items may be required.

  • Ohio BCI&I and FBI background checks
