Clinical Mental Health Counseling-Addictions Concentration
The Master of Arts in Counselor Education program Clinical Mental Health Addictions concentration prepares authentic, culturally conscious, ethical and self-reflective clinicians who will transform lives and communities for greater health, well-being and the common good of all. It is a two-year intensive program with evening classes and no summer courses. The program consists of a comprehensive curriculum that includes coursework, clinical practicum and internships where students learn core counseling theories, skills and ethical practices. Students in our program are well prepared for clinical practices and licensure exams, including the National Counselor Examination. Graduates of this program are eligible for dual licensure in mental health (Licensed Professional Counselor) and addictions (Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor) treatment.
The clinical mental health counseling addictions concentration prepares graduates to work in community-based agencies and hospitals, substance use treatment programs, counseling centers within higher education and private practice settings around Ohio and the nation, specializing in working with clients struggling with addictions and/or mental health. The masters program in Counselor Education is delivered in person at Ohio State's main campus in Columbus, Ohio.
Program features
Full-time program uses a cohort-model to create a strong community.
Clinical Mental Health-Addictions faculty are national leaders and have clinical experience.
Program focuses on centering student voice through student-led organizations.
Students take four to five courses per semester, each meeting once per week at 4 p.m. or 7 p.m.

Funding opportunities
Key to teaching, research and learning in the college, associateships provide students with professional experience and financial support.
We encourage students to apply for EHE scholarships. The college annually awards scholarships to its students to support their academic goals.
Program requirements
The Counselor Education program will no longer require the GRE as an admissions requirement.
